COVID-19: Lab Resources
Extending Free Access for Remote Teams
As COVID-19 continues to spread around the globe, labs and research facilities are implementing unprecedented shifts in how they work. And amidst all this turmoil, the last thing you want to worry about is operational busywork – where your data is stored, what the status is of your reorders, when your perishables are set to expire.
We want to help.
At BrightLab, it’s our mission to enable greater connectivity and collaboration in the lab, wherever that may be. While labs of all sizes use our platform on a daily basis, we’ve found that BrightLab is particularly helpful for remote or distributed research teams.
That’s why we’ve decided the best way we can support at this time is to provide free access for 60 days to all labs.
BrightLab is already free for academic labs, but for all others we are now extending our free trial period from 30 to 60 days so that you have more time to explore and acclimate your team to the platform. To learn more about how our company is responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, please click here.
A Few Tips to Get You Started
Keeping distributed research teams cohesive and productive is hard in the best of times; having to do so suddenly as a result of the coronavirus outbreak is another matter entirely. We’ve shared some recommendations for remote lab management before, but here are some quick tactics that will keep you and your team connected, productive, and healthy during these uncertain times.
Take stock of your inventory
Now is a critical time for cleaning up your lab’s inventory list – how much do you have in stock, which items are running low, which materials are about to expire, is there anything you can donate, and so on. You can batch upload your entire inventory to BrightLab in seconds, so you can find out what you need to do with your inventory right away.
With more people working remotely, or coming into the lab at different times, it can become much more confusing to keep track of who requested what reagent when. BrightLab consolidates all reorder requests into one place, providing visibility for the whole team around what materials are already on their way, which orders are duplicates, and who is next on the approval workflow.
Stick to a schedule
Many labs are switching to staggered shifts to keep operations running while minimizing workplace density. BrightLab allows labs to upload their equipment and create shared team calendars so that everyone knows when a piece of lab equipment is in use, or when it needs to be scheduled for maintenance or calibration.
